[환영사]제2회 한-사우디 모빌리티&혁신 로드쇼 환영사 (영문)
Good afternoon,
Ladies and gentlemen,
앗쌀라무 알라이쿰 (아랍어 인사)
I am Won Hee-Ryong,
Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea.
I can still vividly recall
the enthusiasm we all shared
during the Korea-Saudi Arabia Mobility Innovation Roadshow
held in Riyadh last November
as if it were yesterday.
It brings me great joy and happiness
to meet you again
for the second event held here in Seoul,
the capital city of Korea.
Your Excellency Minister 살레 알 자세르
of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services,
members of the Saudi Arabian delegation,
I would like to extend my most sincere gratitude to you
for travelling all the way to Korea
to grace this event with your presence.
I would also like to thank
all of our distinguished guests
for attending today’s event
and for showing such great anticipation
for the cooperation between Korea and Saudi Arabia.
The Kingdom has been astonishing the world in recent times
with its Vision 2030,
put forth under the leadership of
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince,
as well as with numerous mega-projects including the NEOM.
Last November and this January,
I had opportunities to visit the project site of the NEOM city
which embodies the country’s vision
for new cities of the future,
and also Tadawul(타다울) in Riyadh
which is ready to become a financial hub of the region.
Witnessing the scene of changes and challenges,
I was able to see firsthand
the strong determination of the Saudi people
and their "can-do" spirit.
I am certain that anyone
who gets a chance
to see the innovations taking place in Saudi Arabia
will have his doubts
turn into excited anticipation
just like me.
Since establishing the diplomatic ties in 1962,
Korea and Saudi Arabia have developed
a close friendship in diverse fields.
In particular, the infrastructure construction and plant sector has been the key area
demonstrating the immense potential of our two countries’ collaboration.
With their technical expertise and competence,
Korean companies have been actively and successfully taking part
in Saudi Arabia’s key infrastructure construction projects
such as Jubail Port and Riyadh Metro.
Building on such achievements
in infrastructure and plant construction,
our two countries now aim to expand the scope of cooperation
to include new and advanced industries of the future,
namely,
mobility, IT, and smart cities.
Korea is the 10th largest economy
leading the global semiconductor and IT industries,
and is now becoming a cultural powerhouse
with the global wave of K-pop.
Korea is also at the forefront of innovation
in mobility and transport
with our drive for commercialization
of urban air mobility(UAM) and fully autonomous vehicles.
If Saudi Arabia’s commitment to economic reform
and Korea’s world-class technological capabilities
come together in cooperation,
we will be able to create
a mutually beneficial synergy,
resulting in a win-win outcome.
Today’s Roadshow will mark another important milestone
in our two countries’ journey
by expanding the scope of our collaboration on all fronts.
In today’s event,
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services and ordering entities
will present and discuss
the Kingdom’s transport and logistics strategies
and investment opportunities.
And Korean companies,
representing the "One-team Korea",
will showcase innovative technologies in various areas
from construction and infrastructure
to mobility, smart cities, and smart ports,
which can be used in realizing Saudi Arabia’s vision.
In a few moments,
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and I
will be signing two MOUs on future mobility and roads.
In the field of future mobility,
we will share technologies for green transport
such as electric vehicles
and also share the policies and innovations
in autonomous driving and aviation.
As for the field of roads,
we plan to share policy experiences
and jointly identify new ways to boost cooperation
between leading road construction companies
of Korea and Saudi Arabia.
I am well aware that Naver,
a member of the "One-team Korea",
and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing
have recently signed an MOU
and are making efforts
to promote digital transformation of the public sector.
I truly hope that the MOUs we are signing today
will provide an opportunity
for Korean companies to contribute
in Saudi Arabia’s key projects
with their passion and expertise,
and achieve outstanding results.
Distinguished guests,
Today we are joined by
not only the constructors
that have been working in Saudi Arabia,
but also by the companies
from the industries of advanced mobility technologies
like the UAM and autonomous driving,
as well as those
leading the IT and smart city sectors.
I hope that all of you attending today’s event
will generously share your knowledge and expertise
and plant and cultivate
the seeds of collaboration among companies
with open minds and proactive attitudes,
so that we can all enjoy the fruits of cooperation in the coming years.
Based on the trust and friendship
that Korea and Saudi Arabia have built
over the past 60 years,
I hope that we will truly become a "one team"
and move forward together
for the next 100 years.

최근 사우디아라비아는

전 세계를 놀라게 하고 있습니다.
저 역시, 지난해 11월과 올해 1월
미래형 신도시 네옴시티와
금융허브로 도약하고 있는 리야드 타다울의
변화와 도전의 현장을 직접 살펴보며
사우디 사람들의 ‘한다면 한다’는
강한 의지를 확인할 수 있었습니다.
누구라도 사우디의 혁신 현장을
엿볼 기회가 있다면, 저처럼
물음표가 느낌표로 바뀌리라 확신합니다.
한국과 사우디는 1962년 수교 이래
다양한 분야에서 긴밀한 교류를 이어왔으며
특히 건설 인프라·플랜트는
양국 협력의 저력을 보여준 핵심 분야입니다.
한국은 우수한 기술력과 경쟁력으로
쥬베일 항만, 리야드 메트로와 같은
사우디의 핵심 인프라 건설 프로젝트에서
맹활약해왔습니다.
그리고 이제 양국은
건설 인프라·플랜트 분야의 협력에 더해,
모빌리티, IT, 스마트시티와 같은
첨단 미래산업 분야로
교류협력을 더 확장하고자 합니다.
한국은 반도체, IT 산업을 선도하는
세계 10대 경제 대국이자
K-POP을 대표로 하는
문화 강국으로 거듭나고 있습니다.
또한, 도심항공모빌리티(UAM)와
완전 자율주행차 상용화를 추진하며
모빌리티, 교통 분야의 혁신도
주도하고 있습니다.
사우디가 추구하는 경제개혁 의지와
한국의 세계적인 기술력이
새로운 협력을 향해 손을 잡는다면
양국은 서로 시너지 효과를 내며
윈윈(win-win)할 수 있을 것입니다.
저는 이번 로드쇼를 통해
양국의 협력이 전방위적으로 확장되는
또 한 번의 중요한 이정표를 세우고 싶습니다.
이번 로드쇼에서는 교통물류부와 발주처에서
사우디의 교통물류 전략과 투자 기회를
직접 공유하고,
원팀코리아를 대표하는 우리 기업들이
사우디의 계획을 실현할 수 있도록
건설·인프라부터 모빌리티와 스마트시티,
스마트항만까지 아우르는
다양한 혁신 기술들을 선보일 예정입니다.
잠시 후에는 교통물류부 장관님과
미래 모빌리티와 도로 분야에서
MOU 2건을 체결할 예정입니다.
미래 모빌리티 분야에서는
전기차 등 청정에너지 교통기술과
자율주행, 항공 분야의
혁신 기술과 정책을 공유하고
도로 분야에서는
양국의 도로건설 선도기업의
협력 방안을 모색하고
정책 경험을 교환할 계획입니다.
최근 원팀코리아 일원인 네이버가
사우디 도시농촌주택부와 MOU를 체결하고
공공분야 디지털 전환을
추진하고 있음을 잘 알고 있습니다.
오늘의 MOU 체결도
뛰어난 실력과 열정을 갖춘 우리 기업들이
사우디의 핵심 프로젝트에
실질적으로 기여하고
빛나는 성과로 이어지는 계기가 되기를
