□ Vice Minister Kim Jeong Ryeol met Abduvaliev Abdurakhman, Uzbekistans new Vice Minister of Transport (Ministry of Transport formed in Feb. 2019) on Wednesday, February 27 to discuss plans to cooperate in area of transport.
□ At the meeting, Vice Minister Abdurakhman expressed his hope for Korean companies participation in Uzbekistans major infrastructure projects and proposed MOLITs cooperation in various areas like exchanging technology and human resources with Korean industrial and academic research institutes.
ㅇIn return, Vice Minister Kim asked Uzbekistan to provide more opportunities for Korean companies to participate in projects since they have participated in major projects like A-380 highway construction.
ㅇ Moreover, he mentioned that the participation of Korean companies will be very beneficial to Uzbekistans advancement in technology and responded that in terms of exchanging technology and human resources, the Korean government will support actively.
□ Uzbekistan, Koreas Key friendly nation, is pushing forward "infrastructure development and modernization programs* in transport" with recent steady growth of economy and continuously placing orders for major infrastructure projects.
*150 projects for road and railroad worth 10 billion dollars.
ㅇ Therefore, our companies are willing to increase their presence in various areas such as road, airport, spatial information, and urban development.
□ On this basis, MOLIT will expand the cooperative relationship at the government level with Uzbekistan, a key partner under New Northern Policy, and plan to support our companies entering Uzbekistan in many aspects.
