MOLIT invites 26 public employees in construction of Vietnam... Enhancing cooperative relations of ASEAN

□ High-ranking public officials in Vietnam’s construction sector, who are at the center of the New Southbound Policy, began learning Korea’s ‘Smart City Policies and Urban Regeneration Policies’ since yesterday.

ㅇ Together with the drive to strengthen diplomacy with ASEAN countries as recently stated by President Moon Jae-in to “Elevate cooperation levels with ASEAN countries to levels similar to that of the surrounding four powerhouses including China” it is receiving attention by training Vietnamese public employees regarding advanced construction policies.

ㅇ A group of senior public employees of Vietnam including Nguyễn Xuân Phi who is the party secretary of Thanh Hoa and chairman of the People’s Committee of Vietnam is learning advanced construction policies such as smart city and urban regeneration that is being pursued as part of the ‘7 Innovative Technology Proliferation and Configuration’ by the MOLIT.

□ Training Institute of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Director Won Gwang-seok said, “We will be able to pass on the Republic of Korea’s smart city policies and urban regeneration policies to high-ranking public officials in Vietnam’s construction sector with whom we have interacted with through this training session.”

ㅇ He added, “It will create a positive image for Korean companies to enter the Vietnamese market and it will serve as an opportunity to expand administrative Hallyu (Korean cultural wave).”
ㅇ For three days from June 3 (Mon) to June 5 (Wed), the 26-person training group will learn about the ”Smart City policy of MOLIT“ as well as Korean smart city policies and solution/utilization strategies (Dr. Hwang Jong-sung) and Korea’s urban regeneration project pursuit and success cases (Professor Kim Ho-cheol).

- The group will learn about Korea’s overseas infrastructure development support programs (Dr. Lee Gwang-yeol) that the International Contractors Association of Korea recommended, and also visit and experience the Incheon Smart City and Urban Regeneration Center.

□ The Training Institute of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is under the MOLIT and it provides training for over 6,000 public employees of the central and local governments, institutes, etc. every year.

ㅇ It signed an MOU with the Vietnamese Construction and Urban Management Training Institute in ‘07 and held over 10 cooperative meetings up until last year. It has maintained active exchange such as HRD special lectures for senior public officials of Vietnam and hosting of three domestic training sessions, etc.

ㅇ Meanwhile, the Training Institute of Land, Infrastructure and Transport was recognized for the excellence in its education and training last year and was thus selected as outstanding institute in the public employee education and training evaluations hosted by the Ministry of Personnel Management and was given the Prime Minister Citation. It is assessed to be the best training institute among public training institutes.

□ Director Won Gwang-seok said, “As an institute that fosters core personnel for national territory and transportation needed to create a nation with happy citizens, we will be a training institute that leads the times based on change, communication and creativity, operate various training programs that carefully responds to the demands of citizens and customers and that focus on users, and in particular, lead the way in establishing an assertive cooperation base for government policies as a national training institute.”

ㅇ Moreover, he emphasized that through continuous international exchange as a national training institute, the institute will share outstanding policies of Korea with the world and create a positive image to not only procure a bridgehead for Korean companies to enter foreign markets, but also to actively support the proliferation of administrative Hallyu.
