The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT, Minister WON Hee-ryong) and the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT, Minister Lee Jong-ho) revealed that both ministries have been constantly providing satellite images to support countermeasures against the earthquake in Türkiye by utilizing the Compact Advanced Satellite (CAS) and the Korean Multi-purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT).

The KOMPSAT of No. 3, No. 3A, and No. 5, etc. by the MSIT has been providing the satellite images under the membership of the International Charter ‘Space and Major Disasters’ (hereinafter referred to as 'Charter').

In addition, the MOLIT plans to provide satellite images to the Charter from the first half of 2023 to contribute to disaster relief activities around the world, based on its experience in providing satellite images for disasters and recovery support such as large-scale forest fires within Korea.
