□ On Thursday, April 11, Vice Minister Park Sun ho of MOLIT met Vice Minister Istabraq Ibaraheem Al-shouk of Construction and Housing of Iraq at Korea Territorial Development Museum.

ㅇ At the meeting, both of the vice ministers discussed in depth on the plan for strengthening the cooperation in infrastructure construction including Iraq’s post-war reconstruction projects.

□ Vice Minister Park emphasized, "Iraq is a key country of infrastructure cooperation in the Middle East where our companies have been participating in the various infrastructure constructions like a Bismayah new town and a Karbala oil refinery."

ㅇ He continued to say, “we will actively cooperate in overall infrastructure areas to help Iraq to carry out rebuilding projects without a setback."

□ In return, Vice Minister Al-shouk of Construction and Housing responded, "I hope the Korea-Iraq cooperative relations to expand continuously."

ㅇ He also delivered his thoughts, "I thank the Korean government’s willingness to actively cooperate in Iraq’s reconstruction projects and hope the Korean government and companies to have a great interest in Iraq’s reconstruction projects in the years to come."

□ This high-level meeting was a good opportunity to confirm the willingness for the Korea-Iraq cooperation in infrastructure. This year, Korea and Iraq are to have the 9th joint committee conference to discuss policy and technology exchange plans and to search for new cooperative projects.
