Minister Kim Hyun-mee, “Urge to Pursue Saemangeum Renewable Energy Speedily”

□ Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hun-mee attended the Saemangeum renewable energy research institute investment MOU signing ceremony held at Saemangeum on March 4 (Sun) and held meetings with research institutes and companies.

․(Contents) Korea Testing Laboratory (infrastructure related to water-type solar power evaluation), Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning (national comprehensive empirical research complex) pursue installation of Saemangeum
ㅇ At the signing ceremony, Minister Kim said, “We hope that with this signing ceremony, companies related to renewable energy production facilities, research facilities and generation facilities in Saemangeum will begin to settle down and begin completing the world’s best renewable energy cluster.”
ㅇ She also urged that the relevant institutes such as the Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency, Jeollabuk-do, and Saemangeum Development Corporation cooperate so that it could be pursued in a manner to enhance the competitiveness of not only Jeonbuk, but the entire nation, while also emphasizing that the Saemangeum renewable energy project is a crucial project that acts as priming for sustainable development of Saemangeum.
□ At the following meeting with institutes related to renewable energy, various opinions of companies, research institutes and the local government were shared to search for more constructive renewable energy project directions.
ㅇ At this meeting, Minister Kim said, “Invitations to the Saemangeum renewable energy leading project will be offered for businesses in the near future, so I ask that many companies show interest and invest to help create high quality jobs based on the renewable energy cluster.”
ㅇ She also revealed that the government is also intending to construct major infrastructure such as roads and airways to establish improved investment environments in a timely manner, while also speeding up efforts to expand inexpensive long-term lease lands and pursue leading landfill projects.
□ She also visited the Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency (Director Kim Hyun-sook) that moved to the Saemangeum region late last year to pursue businesses on-site before holding the MOU ceremony to encourage the workers. She said that since it was moved to the site, projects should be pursued through cooperation with the Saemangeum Development Corp. (CEO Kang Pal-moon) and the local community.
ㅇ She also visited the Saemangeum Development Corp. that was newly designated as a public institute in January to encourage employees, while also urging them to work with a grave sense of responsibility and assertive attitude as an institute in charge of a major national policy project.
