- Held 1st meeting to establish the 3rd basic plans for aviation policy -

□ MOLIT (Minister Kim Hyun-mee) held a meeting with figures from various industries such as aviation, urban planning, tourism, airport development, finance and entertainment under the theme, “Direction of the Korean Aviation Industry and Roles of the Government for the Rapidly Changing Aviation Market“.

ㅇ At this meeting was held to look for projects for establishing the 3rd aviation policy basic plans (2020-2024) that began on April 29 were discussed, and to listen to ideas from different sectors on the five-year policy vision and strategies.


ㅇ The meeting was held as part 1 and part 2. In part 1, policy directions to respond to the international airport network strategy paradigms (Hub & Spoke, Point to Point) were discussed and in part 2, sustainable growth strategies for the domestic aviation industry amidst changing environments such as the growth of LCCs were discussed.

□ Starting with this first meeting, meetings will be continued in various sectors such as the academic, industrial and local government fields over nine sessions until August on a total of 10 themes reflecting the recent environmental changes and issues.

□ MOLIT Director General for Aviation Policy Eo Myeong-so said, “No matter how good the vision or strategy, it is meaningless if it is not wanted by citizens.”

ㅇ He announced, ‘We will listen to and work with experts from various associated sectors in addition to the aviation sector to establish a basic plan for aviation policies that can act as a compass for the next five years.“

ㅇ MOLIT is planning to listen to various opinions of relevant personnel and expert groups, as well as citizen participation groups for each them and then confirm and declare the 3rd aviation policy basic plans by the end of December of this year.
