Korea and ASEAN opening a new chapter in smart city cooperation:

ASEAN-ROK Smart City Fair 2019, featuring exhibitions, conferences and business meetings with attendees from 21 countries including ten ASEAN Member States, is due from November 25 to 27 in Busan.

ASEAN-ROK Smart City Fair 2019, an event to exhibit the outcomes and achievements of policy and technological cooperation between ASEAN and ROK, will be open to the public from November 25 to 27 at the Exhibition Center II, BEXCO, in Busan.

Held during the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit, the fair will help ASEAN and Korea further strengthen smart city collaboration and realize the economic benefits that such thriving partnerships are likely to bring to all countries involved.

Under the theme of ‘Smart Cities, Connecting ASEAN-ROK,’ the fair will feature a special exhibition as well as conference sessions and business meetings. As for the exhibition, there will be ASEAN National Pavilions, Korea Pavilion and 220 booths set up by 119 smart city-related companies.

The exhibition will not only summarize the outcomes of ASEAN-ROK smart city cooperation in a special video but also display the cutting-edge technologies, like autonomous vehicle and other technologies developed through R&D projects, to be introduced to Sejong and Busan as part of the National Smart City Projects planned in the cities. Minister KIM Hyun-mee of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the host of this fair, will give a tour to the ASEAN Ministers in charge of smart city on November 25.

At the stage installed inside the Exhibition Center, Peter Moore, Managing Director of APAC and Japan of Amazon Web Services, will deliver a keynote speech on the future of cloud computing for conference sessions. Institute of Smart City & Architecture will hold seminars to explore the ways for building a collaborative network between Korea and ASEAN. Public lectures and panel discussion involving 30 domestic and international experts will shed light on the fourth industrial revolution and its impact on our world.

For business providing smart city solutions, 1:1 business meetings with 100 buyers from 21 countries including the ten ASEAN countries will be arranged between November 25 and 26.

In conjunction with the ASEAN-ROK Smart City Fair, ASEAN-ROK Ministerial Meeting on Smart City will take place on November 25. After the inaugural meeting this year, the meeting will serve as a platform that nurtures sustainable smart city collaboration between ASEAN and Korea.

Minister Kim believes that the fair and the ministerial meeting present good opportunities for Korea to promote to ASEAN its advanced smart city policies and technologies. To make sure that such policy and technological exchanges create concrete projects between ASEAN and Korea, the minister promised to give her upmost support.
