Minister Kim Hyun-mee, Discusses Infrastructure Cooperation with Ecuador, the Country on the Equator
Meets Minister of Transport and Public Works … Promoting Signing of MOU on Infrastructure Cooperation
□ On Wednesday, April 10, Minister Kim Hyun-mee of MOLIT had a meeting with Aurelio Hidalgo Zavala, Minister of Transport and Public Works of Ecuador to discuss infrastructure cooperation between Korea and Ecuador.
ㅇ Oscar Gustavo Herrera Gilbert, Ambassador of Ecuador to Korea, also attended the meeting.
ㅇ They shared Korea’s experience on developing infrastructure in transport areas such as airports, railways and roads and discussed ideas for bilateral cooperation.
□ Minister Hidalgo of Transport and Public Works showed a great interest in Koreas excellent airport and railway infrastructure. He proposed signing of MOU on infrastructure development to MOLIT to strengthen the Korea-Ecuador cooperation.
ㅇ In return, Minister Kim Hyun-mee gladly accepted the proposal for signing MOU and promised to sign MOU in the near future when a specific agenda is drawn out by going through adjustments at the working level.
□ Minister Kim Hyun-mee said to Minister Hidalgo, "I hope youll play the role of an excellent mediator making Korea-Ecuador friendly relations even stronger from this day forward."
ㅇ Additionally, she introduced KIND, Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (officially launched on June 27, 2018) joining the meeting.
ㅇ She emphasized "when pushing forward infrastructure development in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) way, we will actively search and review the project with KIND to maximize cooperation and exchange of business experience and technology."
