-Discussed facility safety, smart city, etc. with the Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Public Housing on the 28th -

□ Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mee met with Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono on June 28 (Fri) to discuss infrastructure cooperation agendas between the two countries such as safety, ITS and smart city.

ㅇ Indonesia is Korea’s 11th biggest overseas bid nation (880 million USD in ‘18) where Korean companies are actively working in various fields such as housing construction, plants, and railways.

□ The two sides shared the progress of the cooperative projects that have been discussed in the past and talked about new agendas such as moving the capital of Indonesia.

ㅇ First, the special bridge management system construction project pursued jointly with Korea since the collapse of infrastructure (bridge, dam) in Indonesia was praised for progressing smoothly, and they agreed to expand cooperation throughout all facility safety fields in the future.


ㅇ In addition, the two nations pledged support for the “Karian Wide Area Waterworks Project*” that is being pursued as a proposal-type PPP project that started as an ODA of MOLIT, and also agreed to continue road and ITS cooperation.

* Total project cost 160 million USD, supply 40m2/day to western Jakarta and two neighboring cities

ㅇ Regarding Indonesia’s plans to move its capital city, Minister Kim Hyun-mee mentioned Korea’s experience with constructing an administrative capital as well as the smart city project pursued by LH, etc., requesting interest and support for participation by Korean companies.


□ The two sides agreed to continue talks regarding the agendas discussed on this day through various channels such as the Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (Sep 3 – Sep 5).
