The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT, Minister NOH Hyeong-ouk) has selected 4 demonstration projects for logistics service and 2 projects for logistics city creation as part of the Digital Logistics Complex Development Project in order to establish and support a smart logistics system.

With the increasing demand for daily logistics due to the spread of e-commerce in the ‘untact’ (non-contact) post-corona era, public interests are growing in improving urban logistics such as traffic congestion.

This demonstration project is aimed to enhance the daily convenience and improve the living conditions of the public by discovering and supporting leading projects to solve urban logistics problems through the smart logistics technology.

Through two months of public contest from December of 2021 to February this year, the ministry selected the projects with comprehensive evaluation of the necessity, feasibility, and will for promotion through extensive review by the experts.

Local governments will be provided with up to KRW 2 billion of government expense for each project in consideration of the project size and will demonstrate new services in the area as well as establish logistics plans.

The selected projects will start from mid-March after consultations of the timeline with local governments and participating organizations. Plans for service demonstrations and logistics will soon be established with the start of the project.

MOLIT Director General for Logistics Policy Gu Heon Sang said, “We have selected innovative logistics solutions using smart and state-of-the-art technology as well as logistics demonstration cities for the future logistics, such as underground logistics.“

He added, “Both the public and private sectors such as local governments and logistics companies will work together to systematically promote the selected projects. We will continue to work hard to create a smart logistics system for the convenience and safety of the public.”
