Enhance the national understanding on the satellite and utilize as educational place
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport(Minister: Won Hee-Ryong) stated that the promotion hall for the public awareness is operated from June 03 within Cheongju Airport (2nd floor) and Korea Air Navigation Satellite Center ahead of satellite No.1 launch (June 23, expected) to realize Korea Augmentation Satellite Service* (KASS).
* Korea Augmentation Satellite System: International standard satellite based augmentation system that provides the location information in real-time from the satellite reducing the horizontal error (Max, 33m) of GPS within 1m
Composed of Promotion Space that can show technological know-how on KASS development process comprehensively by exhibiting the explanation panel on the operation, satellite model and the promotional video from the development process of Korea Augmentation Satellite System (KASS), Promotion Hall is expected to help understanding of citizens on the satellite.
As a permanent exhibition space, Promotion Hall within Korea Air
Navigation Satellite Center is expected to contribute to the enhancement of the national brand value by encouraging the pride as the world 7th satellite service country to the visiting interested persons, And by being utilized as a place of field education for the foreign public officer and the interested persons who visit our country.
Encouraging the related personnel with the congratulatory message, Ju Jong-Wan, Director of Airport Policy Division who attended the opening ceremony of KASS Promotion Hall requested, “Make a full preparation to provide the open service to the citizens in December after launching Satellite No.1 scheduled on June 23 successfully (French Guiana).
In addition, he stated, “We will promote the project without problem so that KASS can advance one step ahead in the world competition of reducing GPS error, which is the foundation of Autonomous Mobility Navigation Traffic System".
