MOLIT will affirm Korea’s leadership in the field of international standardization for spatial information by hosting the Plenary Meeting in Korea next year for the era of global digital transformation
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) of Rep. of Korea won the bid to host the 56th Plenary Meeting of the ISO/TC 211 during its attendance at the 55th one, held at the Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS) in Stockholm on 5 - 10 December.
Standing for the Technical Committee 211 of the International Organization for Standardization, the ISO/TC 211 shares technology on methods and services for collecting, processing, and analyzing objects or phenomena on the earth as spatial information, and discusses matters necessary for enacting and revising international standards for such technology. The number 211 means the order of its birth (June 1994) among the ISO Technical Committees and Korea officially joined the TC 211 in January 1995.
As the host of the 56th Plenary Meeting, MOLIT will organize the plenary session as well as the official events, working group meetings, advisory group meetings, and seminars scheduled during the plenary week. The event will give Korea a great opportunity to showcase Korea’s geospatial information technologies and platforms such as digital twin and to promote Korean companies interested in overseas venture in the field.
