The National Geographic Information Institute (NGII; Director General CHO Woo-sug), under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and
Transport (MOLIT; Minister PARK Sang-woo), is set to launch its official website of the National Land Satellite Center starting from April 9,
available in both Korean and English. The website will provide comprehensive information on the National Land Satellite, including its
operational status, key outputs, imagery archives, and more, with the aim of enhancing public access.
The National Land Satellite (CAS500-1: Compact Advanced Satellite 500) was exclusively developed in Korea through a collaboration
between MOLIT and the Ministry of Science and ICT. It serves as a high-precision Earth observation satellite, designed for efficient land
management and disaster response. The satellite is currently operated by the NGII, and the first National Land Satellite was successfully
launched in March 2021 and has been operating reliably ever since.
