□ MOLIT (Minister Kim Hyun-mee) announced that it found production flaws in dump trucks manufactured and sold by Man Truck & Bus Korea and took corrective actions (recall).
ㅇ Cavitation* occurred in the pretarder, which is an auxiliary braking device that uses coolant methods, and this has the possibility to cause damages or corrosion to pretarder parts, heat up coolants, or cause discoloration.
* Cavitation: Phenomenon where steam bubbles form inside a liquid that causes noise and vibration, as well as damages and corrosion of rotary wings
ㅇ The said dump trucks include a total of 1,688 TGS model (10 sub-models) produced between November 4, 2014 and March 10, 2018 and can be repaired (inspections followed by cooling system cleaning, pretarder replacement, etc.) free of charge at service centers designated by MAN Truck & Bus Korea from March 4. □ MOLIT accepts defect and flaw reports through the automobile and construction machine recall center (www.car.go.kr, 080-357-2500).
ㅇ When reports are received, objective and fair manufacturing flaw inspections are conducted and in the event that production flaws are confirmed, prompt corrective action is taken in its plan to do its best to protect the lives and properties of citizens.
