Carts that Carry Loads and Follows Operator... Development of Advanced Logistics Site Equipment
- MOLIT-industry-academia puts forth outcomes of R&D from 2014... Expected to improve the poor labor environment

□ MOLIT (Minister Kim Hyun-mee) announced that as an outcome of national R&D pursued since 2014 to make improvements to the poor labor environment, which has been a persistent issue in logistics sites, the ‘mobile power cart’ and ‘smart power carrier’ were developed to easily transport goods by even women and the elderly at logistics sites.

□ The mobile power cart recognizes the frame of the operator and automatically tracks the operator while carrying cargo (max 250kg), and advanced sensors were attached so that it could precisely recognize objects.

ㅇ It was developed cheaper (15 million KRW) than similar overseas products (38 million KRW), and unlike other automated transportation devices, it does not require the construction of additional infrastructure.

ㅇ Furthermore, it can change directions and move freely through 360 degrees stand-still rotation, making it easy to apply in domestic logistics warehouses that are smaller compared to foreign equipment.

□ The smart power carrier is a powered carrier that the operator rides in to control the device to move cargo (max 200kg).

ㅇThe smart power carrier was developed for the first time in Korea having no similar products abroad, and it is suitable for transporting small quantities and various types of products. It was designed to have a small rotation radius and can change directions freely even in narrow spaces.

ㅇIt can be used in various conditions for not only logistics warehouses, but also plant warehouses and wholesale markets at a cheap price (app. 3.3 million KRW), and it is being actively distributed to actual logistics sites such as the National Agriculture Cooperative Federation Hanaro Marts.

□ MOLIT said that as the mobile power cart and smart power carrier were developed in a way that it can be modified and applied according to the conditions of each business, it will be easy to apply on site, and revealed that it plans to continue to develop and distribute logistics equipment that can reduce the need for labor in order to improve the logistics labor environment.
