Minister Kim Hyun-mee has Surprise Luncheon with Overseas Construction Laborers
- Luncheon held at cafeteria at the Temburong Bridge construction site in Brunei on the 11th

□ Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mee held a luncheon with overseas construction laborers at the site cafeteria and had casual conversations prior to President Moon Jae-in’s visit to the Temburong Bridge construction site in Brunei on March 11 (Mon.)

ㅇ A total of 35 employees of Daelim Industrial and partner companies participating in the Temburong Bridge construction attended the meeting. The workers invited Minister Kim and she decided to come to this unscheduled luncheon while in Brunei.

□ Minister Kim Hyun-mee said that she thought highly of the trust efforts of Korean companies that built trust with the government of Brunei to pioneer new markets and that Korean companies have now broken away from the practice of price-bidding through continuous technological development.

ㅇ She said that conglomerates and small and medium-sized companies enter foreign markets together is the way to enhance overseas construction competitiveness in the long-run, and said that she was proud to see Korean companies building landmarks of Brunei.

ㅇ She also stated that she would listen to the difficulties of the laborers and provide full support for Korean companies to enter overseas markets.

□ Afterwards, Minister Kim Hyun-mee visited the Temburong Bridge construction site together with President Moon Jae-in, stating the government’s interest in overseas construction, and urged that the workers on site should complete the project safely and healthily.

□ Following her visit to Brunei, Minister Kim Hyun-mee will visit Malaysia for a summit meeting and is planning to provide support for bidding in Myanmar.
