Recalls for Imports such as Jaguar, Ferrari and Toyota and Construction Equipments[20,529 cars from 35 models, 475 units from 5 construction machine companies]
□ The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Kim Hyun-mee) announced that it would conduct voluntary corrective actions (Recalls) on 20,529 vehicles from a total of 35 models sold by eight importers such as Jaguar, FMK(Ferrari Maserati Korea), Toyota, Volvo, Benz, Hanbul Motors, and BMW, and that it had detected manufacturing defects in 475 construction equipments from five companies.
□ First, in the case of 6,266 cars from three different models such as the Jaguar XE imported and sold by Jaguar-Land Rover Korea, it was found that in high-temperature and high-humidity, the inflater of the driver’s seat air bag module supplied by Takata could have excessive explosive pressure when being deployed, which could cause metal parts to injure the driver or passenger, and thus recalls will be conducted.
ㅇ For these vehicles, it can be replaced with improved driver’s seat air bag module for free at official Jaguar-Land Rover service centers from April 25.
□ In addition, 475 cars from 13 models such as the Ferrari California (F149 CDEL) imported and sold by FMK will begin recalls for passenger’s side front air bag module defects for the same reason as Jaguar.
ㅇ For 105 cars from six models such as the Ferrari 488GTB (F142BBE) of the same manufacturer, it was found that there were cracks in the plastic connection parts due to defective assembly in the parts production process, thus having the possibility of fires breaking out due to fuel steam leaks.
ㅇ In 35 cars from two models such as the Ferrari GTC4Lusso, it was found that the Bowden cable* was connected diagonally, and therefore, the wire fastening part connected to the door opening and closing device could be damaged, thus having the possibility of not being able to open the door from the outside.

ㅇ Furthermore, in the case of three La Ferrari of Ferrari, there was an error in the structural design such as the front bonnet and left and right parts of the front fender, and therefore, it was found to violate the safety standards regulated to protect pedestrians when colliding with a pedestrian, and therefore, fines are expected to be levied in the future as it corresponding to Article 74 Paragraph 2 Subparagraph 1 of the Automobile Management Act.
ㅇ Free recall services will be available at the official Ferrari service center for the Ferrari GTC4Lusso and 488 GTB, etc. vehicles from April 18, La Ferrari from April 19, and California, etc. from April 22.
□ In addition, it was found that in 244 cars from three models such as the Lexus LS500h AWD imported and sold by Toyota Motor Korea Co., Ltd, expressive pressure was applied in the sides of the tires during the run flat tire and wheel assembly process, thus having the possibility that cracks could occur in the inner reinforced layer of the tire that can cause noise and vibration, and it was also found that if action is not taken, there is concern for accidents due to damage to the tire surface.
ㅇ Recall services will be available for these vehicles from April 18 to exchange the run flat tires (4 tires) with new products free-of-charge at official Toyota service centers nationwide.
□ For 13,401 cars from nine models built by five makers, recalls will be carried out for the following defects.
□ Meanwhile, MOLIT also announced that voluntary recalls will be carried out as manufacturing defects were found in construction equipments (concrete pump) manufactured and sold by five companies including KCP Heavy Industries that utilizes trucks (model: Xcient) of Hyundai Motor Company.
ㅇ It was found that the exhaust reduction fuel injection pipe neck area of the exhaust system could be damaged due to vibration during concrete placing operations, and that this could potentially result in fuel leaks that can lead to fires.
ㅇ A total of 475 units manufactured from January 20, 2015 to January 31, 2019 are subject to recall and free repairs (inspection of exhaust reduction fuel injection pipe and exchange to improved parts) will be offered at the Hyundai Motors service center from April 18.

ㅇ It announced its plans to perform objective and fair manufacturing defect investigations for reported matters and in the event that manufacturing flaws are found, it will take prompt corrective action to do its best to protect the life and property of citizens from safety accidents resulting from manufacturing defects of automobiles and construction equipments.
