with the theme, ‘Look back on the past, dream of the future, and gaze upon the present’

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT, Minister Noh Hyeong Ouk) will hold a photo exhibition titled " Look back on the past, dream of the future, and gaze upon the present" at Yongsan Park's partial open site (former U.S. Army 5th Officer's quarters ) from February 18.

This photo exhibition is intended to record the current appearance of the Yongsan base being returned to be created as Yongsan Park, and a total of 50 works will be exhibited permanently (09:00-17:00, closed Sunday and Monday), and can be viewed freely without any additional registration.

In particular, photographer Kim Myung-joong, an exclusive photographer for Beatles member Paul McCartney, who has been recognized for his professionalism and his achievements, such as working with world-famous celebrities such as BTS, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Johnny Depp, has participated in the event.

The photo exhibition works were filmed in high-rise buildings with a panoramic view of Yongsan Base, the National Museum of Korea newly incorporated into Yongsan Park development district in 2020, the former Defense Acquisition Program Administration site and partial open site, and sports fields and softball fields scheduled for return in the first half of this year.

Against the backdrop of Yongsan Park, the green axis connecting Namsan Mountain and Hangang River, the dawn, sunset, and night view are beautifully captured. In particular, most of them are currently filmed in places where general access is restricted, so it is expected that they will be able to convey a different feeling to visitors.

In addition to the 50 photographs, a short documentary video, photography journey, containing the meaning of photography produced by the photographer Kim Myung-joong, his associates and youth creators of Yongsan Park, will be screened as an additional attraction to the park.

MOLIT head of the planning division at the Yongsan Park Planning Office Moon Yu-jin said, “Yongsan Garrison, during the transitional period where most of the US military has moved to Pyeongtaek and currently in the process of returning it, has both the past and the future.”

“I expect this exhibition to be a great help in looking and imagining our long time commitment in the creation of Yongsan Park,” she said.

She stressed that the public's interest is the most important element in the process of creating Yongsan Park, and emcouraged people to pay interest to the KaKao channel Yongsan Park Friends , which delivers various information and news related to the Yongsan Park.
