Metropolitan Transport Commission (Chairman Baek Seung-Geun, hereinafter "MTC") of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korean Transportation Safety Authority (Chairman Kwon Yong-Bok) announced the results of analyzing the service performance of Altteul (money-saving) Transport Card Project for 1st quarter of 2022.
The users of Altteul Transport Card, in which 17 metropolitan cities and provinces and 158 cities, counties and districts across our country participate, saved 22.9% of public transport cost expenditure saving monthly average 13,193 won during 1st quarter of 2022,
* When using public transport, maximum 30% of public transport cost is saved by granting the mileage proportional to the travel distance on foot and by bicycle (20%, public resources) and by providing additional discount (about 10%) from the card company.
In addition, it was shown that Altteul Transport Card user was increased by 65,656 persons in the 1st quarter of 2022 (monthly average 21,885 persons) (accumulated numbers: 356,000 persons) sharply (108%) compared with the monthly average 10,542 person of last year.
Altteul Transport Card users used the public transport 37.5 times in the 1st quarter of 2022 paying the fee of 57, 635won and saved 22.9% of the transport cost expenditure with the benefit of 13,193 won (mileage accumulation of 9,150 won and card discount of 4,043won).
It was identified that the sharp increase of Altteul Transport Card user was caused by the resumption of new subscription in Seoul in January, 2022, which was suspended from August, 2021 due to insufficient budget and by the increase of participating local government to 158 cities, counties and districts from 2022 from 137 cities, counties and districts
* New local government participating in 2022 (21 local governments): Seosan, Dangjin, Nonsan, Gongju, Boryeong, Hongseon, Yesan, Buyeo, Taean, Seocheon, Geumsan, Gyeryong, Cheongyang (Chungnam: 13 governments), Yeosu, Mokpo, Haenam (Jeonnam), Gumi, Sangju (Gyeongbuk), Sacheon, Haman (Gyeongnam), Gangneung (Gangwon)
MTC Head of the Metropolitan Transportation Fares Department Park Jeong-ho said, " Altteul Transport Card Project, which is contributing to the national transport cost saving and the activation of eco-friendly transportation, showed the outcome that the users were increased sharply in the 1st quarter of 2022", and added "We are also planning to prepare diverse improvement measures so that more people can enjoy the benefit of transport cost saving through the expansion of participating area, etc. after the 2nd quarter of 2022".
