- Pre-announcement of legislation amendments to expand the scope of mandatory green building certification
- Expecting to provide a more eco-friendly and pleasant educational environment
- A total of 20,920 certifications since 2002 contributing to the activation of green buildings and the realization of carbon neutrality
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT, Minister WON Hee-ryong) makes the pre-announcement of legislation with a partial amendment to the ‘Enforcement Decree of the Green Building Construction Support Act’ (hereinafter referred to as the Enforcement Decree) from 13 April to 23 May, which specifies that buildings currently under the jurisdiction of the superintendent of education, such as public schools, are subject to mandatory green building certification.
Public buildings that meet certain criteria, such as a total floor area of 3,000㎡ or more, are subject to mandatory green building certification*, but buildings under the jurisdiction of the superintendent of education were not included in the mandatory certification, so the system was to be supplemented through working-level consultations with related ministry.
