Making confirmation and announcement of the master plan at the end of this year while pursuing the establishment of a dedicated organization for timely airport opening
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT, Minister WON Hee-ryong) announced that it plans to confirm and announce the master plan of the Gadeokdo New Airport construction project, which has been being promoted as one of a major government projects by the Yoon Suk Yeol government.
This master plan was prepared through the basic plan design (Aug. 2022) in accordance with the roadmap for the opening of the airport in December 2029, announced by the MOLIT back in March, and the consultation on the assessment of strategic environmental impact is underway.
As Gadeokdo New Airport would be an international airport that can be operated 24 hours a day with the aim of opening in Dec. 2029, there will be also created a site for future use for runways, passenger and cargo terminals, airport access roads, railroad construction, as well as logistics and commercial facilities, etc.
