Saving energy for savings account?

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT, Minister PARK Sang-woo) has announced the launch of a new financial measures
that rewards individuals for reducing electricity consumption, as part of the government’s broader efforts to achieve carbon neutrality in the building sector.
In partnership with the SC Bank Korea, MOLIT is introducing a benefit of banking with "Savings for Energy-Saving", which provides a
maximum preferential interest rate up to 7.2% in total included with the bonus 3.5% based on individual reductions in electricity use. This
initiative aims to foster a culture of energy conservation among the general public.
The benefit will be available starting Monday 12 May and applications must be submitted via the SC Bank Korea mobile application by Friday 23 May. Eligible customers who reduce their electricity usage between June and November 2025 compared to the same period in the
previous year will receive each allocated rate of bonus interest based on their amount of energy saving.
