The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) announced the current status and future plans for the seven airports (nine sites)* nationwide to improve localizer facilities followed by the Aviation Safety Innovation Plan released on 30 April 2025.


(Embankment & Concrete) Muan, Gwangju, Yeosu, Pohang-Gyeongju Airports; (Concrete) Gimhae (2 runways), Sacheon (2 runways); (Steel frame) Jeju Airport


As of 31 December 2025, the improvement projects have been completed at five airports: Pohang-Gyeongju Airport on 29 September;

Gwangju Airport on 27 October; Sacheon Airport on 5 December; Gimhae Airport on 12 December, and Yeosu Airport on 31 December.

In the case of Gimhae Airport, the one designated for civilian flights has been improved with easily breakable localizer facility on 12

December 2025 allowing 99% of aircraft now to land using the runway.
