High speed railway has firmly established itself as a core mode of daily transportation for the public, with the number of passengers reaching a record high of approximately 119 million in 2025, marking a 2.6% increase compared to the previous year.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT, Minister KIM Yun-duk) announced the following annual figure of railway
passengers totaling 172.22 million in 2025 on arterial railroads, which are combined with high speed railroad lines and general rail lines.
