The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT; Minister KIM Yun-duk) has allocated air traffic rights for 2026 covering 35
international routes to 11 Korean flag carriers on April 23, following deliberation by the Air Transport Committee in accordance with the
Rules on Allocation of Air Traffic Rights.
This allocation places particular emphasis on expanding Korea–China routes in response to rapidly recovering passenger demand between
the two countries, which reached approximately 4.39 million passengers during the first quarter of 2026, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
The enhanced network is expected to broaden consumer choices while also contributing to increased inbound tourism.
Traffic rights to regional airports such as Busan and Cheongju have also been distributed, aiming to improve travel convenience for local
residents and attract more international tourists to regional areas.
