The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT; Minister KIM Yun-duk), represented by LEE So-young, Director General for
Aviation Policy, held bilateral air talks with the Czech Republic, represented by Marek Škrna, Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority,
in Prague from July 28 to 29 and agreed to increase air traffic rights between the two countries from the current seven weekly flights to ten,
an increase of three flights per week.
Following agreements reached with Hungary for 14 weekly flights and Austria for 21 weekly flights back in March, MOLIT has now agreed
with Czechia to increase bilateral traffic rights, paving the way for a greater expansion of scheduled air transport services between Korea
and Central and Eastern Europe to support international travelers.
In response to strong demand for the Incheon–Prague route, the two countries previously increased traffic rights from four to seven weekly
flights in 2024. Since then, consultations with the travel industry and other stakeholders have shown that demand remains substantial,
prompting the government to pursue another increase in traffic rights two years later.
Currently, four weekly flights by Korean Air and another three weekly flights by Asiana Airlines are operated on the Incheon–Prague route.
The expanded traffic rights are expected to create opportunities for new airlines to enter the route, providing passengers with a wider
range of choices.
