- Review progress in urban policy initiatives in five countries: Egypt, Cambodia, Mozambique, Azerbaijan and Paraguay
- Build on achievements, including the approval of national urban policies, to further develop and expand the programme
At the K-NUPP Expert Group Meeting (EGM), held from October 13 to 15 at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya, the Ministry of Land,
Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT; Minister HONG Jee-sun) and UN-Habitat shared achievements in supporting national urban policies in developing countries and explored avenues for future cooperation.
Following the adoption of the New Urban Agenda in Quito, Ecuador, in 2016, MOLIT and UN-Habitat carried out Phase 1 of K-NUPP, helping
Iran, Myanmar and Nigeria develop urban policies and achieving outcomes such as improved access to drinking water and sanitation.
Building on that experience, Phase 2 is supporting five additional countries-Egypt, Cambodia, Mozambique, Azerbaijan and Paraguay-by
linking the formulation of policies responsive to each country’s urban challenges with on-the-ground pilot projects.
