Minister KIM Yun-duk of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) met with Japanese Minister Kaneko Yasushi of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in Tokyo on 1 September 2026 to discuss ways to strengthen and expand Korea-Japan cooperation in related sectors for the development of future technologies, including policies for autonomous driving and AI-powered cities.

As part of the visit, Minister Kim also visited Minato Mirai 21 and Hyundai Motor Company in Yokohama on the same day to explore best practices and reaffirm the two countries’ shared commitment to advancing future policies, while also holding a roundtable on 31 August with representatives of Korean autonomous and mobility companies operating in Japan to hear about Japan’s policy and support measures for the sector and benchmark them for application in Korea.
