Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport KIM Yun-duk met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam in Hanoi on 30 July 2026 and delivered a letter from the President of the Republic of Korea. During the meeting, Minister Kim reaffirmed Korea’s commitment to expanding bilateral infrastructure cooperation, including Vietnam’s North–South Express Railway project, and sought support for Korean companies’ participation from the early stages of the project.

Minister Kim also met with Vietnam’s Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh to discuss expanding government-to-government cooperation across the land and transport sectors, from high-speed rail construction to urban development. The two sides agreed to develop the inaugural Korea–Vietnam Railway Cooperation Meeting, held on 31 July, into a regular intergovernmental channel for identifying and advancing concrete railway cooperation projects.
